The School of Automation of Chengdu University of Information Technology can be tracked back to the Department of Electronic technologyabout eighteen years ago. At the beginning, there were only two majors: Automation, and Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument. Now there are four majors for undergraduates: Automation, Electrical Engineering and its Automation, Mechatronics Engineering, and Robotics Engineering, and two majors for master students: Control Engineering, and Control Science and Engineering.

Through many years of unremitting efforts, it has been developed into the School of Automation with strong scientific research and teaching accomplishments, and has developed great influence and reputation domestically and internationally. The research and teaching are characterized by special machine intelligence devices and equipment in nuclear power, power systems, agriculture,aeronautics and astronautics, and so on. Among more than hundred faculty and staff, there are well-known researchers listed in Stanford University World's Top 2% Scientists and highly cited Chinese researchers, and IET Fellow & IET Fellow Assessor.

The School of Automation has world-wide research collaborations with USA, UK, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Romania, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Philippines, or New Zealand. Automation has proven to be a field of enormous challenges and even greater opportunities. We are determined to take a leading position in expanding its boundaries, through research and teaching of the high quality. Our vision is that our research and our graduates will be at the better level of the field, both at home and abroad.
