On November 22,Dr.GongjunYan, aninternationalexpert in Intelligent Transportation at University of Southern Indiana in America, was invited to give an online academic lecture for the graduate students and teachers of School of Automation inInformationBuilding104.

The theme of this lecture is "Routing Protocols Based on A Probabilistic Model". The presentation is about the communication protocols and algorithms in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks or Intelligent Transportation.Dr. Yan reported on the research progress through his recently published 5 representative papers, covering the establishment of models and theoretical foundations, proposing probabilistic routing protocols, and two applications based on this routing protocol.

Dr. Yan's report combined theory with practice, with vivid illustrations and texts, which made the teachers and students present feel his great enthusiasm for scientific research work. The listeners were very encouraged, and the on-site interactive session was relaxed and enthusiastic. This lecture broadened the international vision of our teachers and students, and laid a foundation for further strengthening in-depth cooperation in related fields in the future.

Dr. Gongjun Yan’s brief CV

Dr. Gongjun Yan received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University in 2010. He is currently an Associate Professor in University of Southern Indiana and has been working on the issues about Intelligent Transportation, Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks, Sensor Networks, Wireless Communication, and Machine Learning. His main research areas include intelligent vehicles, security, privacy, routing, and intelligent systems. In years, Dr. Yan applied mathematical analysis to model behavior of complex systems and integrated existing techniques to provide comprehensive solutions. He had more than 60 publications including journal/conference papers, book chapters, and patents. In recent years, he has won several best paper awards in international conferences. He also serves as associate editors in journals such as IEEE Transaction on Intelligent Transportation System, Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks, etc.
